by Michael Wells Another uneventful day for Brady is just about as much of a blessing as anyone can ask for. Sherrie took Brady for a check up today and here’s the latest schedule for him. He will continue his IV antibiotics for the next 3 days and next week on February 25 have a CAT scan to check his right lung. Hopefully the infection will be cleared up and Brady will be at CHOP either Monday March 1st or a week later based upon the CAT scan results and availability at CHOP. Either way Dr. Drachtman is fairly confident Brady will be headed for his bone marrow transplant early next month. On one hand it’s a huge sense of relief to know that Brady will be healthy enough to begin the next phase of his cancer treatment and on the other hand it is just down right scary. We do not have much of a choice so we will continue to enjoy the time we have at home and prepare ourselves for a couple of challenging months ahead. On a very positive side; Marc Rubenstein of Jersey Physical Therapy informed me the blood drive he is sponsoring this week end for Brady looks like it’s going to be a “sell out.” Thanks to everyone who is planning on donating and a special thanks to Marc and his staff for making this all possible. Well, it’s time to call it a night and as always; please continue the prayers, hugs, and good thoughts for Brady they are as important to him as life itself.“8 Years Later—Still No Cure for Pediatric Cancer” is a series of posts revisiting the journal kept by Sherrie and Michael Wells during the cancer diagnosis and treatment of their son, Brady Michael. Hopefully these entires will provide an understanding of the journey families face when dealing with these horrific diseases and of the important work the Hugs for Brady Foundation does.
