by Michael Wells We have some wonderful news to share and some not so wonderful. First the good news and then we’ll move on to the other stuff. Brady is doing incredibly well. Yesterday, he had his weekly check-up at CHOP and didn’t even let out a peep when he was given an IV to administer his CBC. All his signs are good and it looks like very soon he will be alternating between RWJ and CHOP for his weekly check-ups; a 15 minute drive versus an hour, yeah! Now the not so good news; Brady’s friend Jimmy was in RWJ Hospital for 2 weeks battling an infection. He’s out now and we are all hoping he stays out! On to the really awful news; I will let Tracey (Mark Levine’s Mom) tell you in her own words: Tuesday – May 11, 2010 As I sit here looking for the right words I realize that there are no words – just emotion and love for my beautiful boy who has blessed my life with his amazing presence. We learned today that Mark’s tumors have grown and multiplied. They are consuming his lungs and we have been advised to bring in hospice care. We are going to spend every waking moment giving Mark all of our love and devotion and making his every second count. Please keep Mark and Marissa in your prayers. There is nothing I can add to her entry except; pediatric cancer is just evil and anything you can do to help eradicate it will help save a child from enduring such hideous pain. Please add Mark to your prayers, thoughts and hug someone in his honor, it means more to the families of children with cancer than you can and hopefully will ever imagine.“8 Years Later—Still No Cure for Pediatric Cancer” is a series of posts revisiting the journal kept by Sherrie and Michael Wells during the cancer diagnosis and treatment of their son, Brady Michael. Hopefully these entires will provide an understanding of the journey families face when dealing with these horrific diseases and of the important work the Hugs for Brady Foundation does.
