by Michael Wells What a simply wonderful day Brady had. We had a delicious breakfast made by Aunt Kellie and we were ready to roll before 9:00am. We decided to visit Terhune Orchards in Princeton, NJ. They have a small petting zoo and Brady just loved feeding the goats and ducks. We returned home just before noon with all sorts of delicious goodies. We had the most magnificent afternoon. Katie (Xander’s mom) came to our house to photograph Brady. She is a professional photographer and we just had the most delightful experience watching her shoot Brady in just about every imaginable position. This was all done naturally and Brady did not pose for one photo. I can’t wait to see the results of her efforts. Katie also arrived with gifts for Brady alone with Dunkin Donuts and Munchkins. Katie, thank you, thank you, thank you! Early this evening Sherrie and Kellie went off to an early “girls” night out dinner at a local restaurant while Brady and I traveled to Grandma & Papa Sivco for burgers and hot dogs. But the hit of the night if not the entire day was Brady getting a ride on Papa’s riding mower. Brady is convinced Papa has a tractor and the smile was from ear to ear. We all returned to our house for an evening campfire and roasting marshmallows. We had s’mores and goodness I’ve forgotten just how awful those things really are. We are now back inside with the air conditioning and Brady wide awake. I swear he is just non stop energy. This disease is just breaking our hearts and it is just so difficult to see Brady apparently well, while all along he is about as sick as anyone can be. I just hate this evil beast! Tomorrow, it’s off to church and then things are still up in the air. All I know is, we will keep creating memories every single moment of each day. We love hearing from everyone and prayers, hugs and good thoughts are more than ever needed. Brady is just about the most remarkable person I have ever met and it just SUCKS!!!“8 Years Later—Still No Cure for Pediatric Cancer” is a series of posts revisiting the journal kept by Sherrie and Michael Wells during the cancer diagnosis and treatment of their son, Brady Michael. Hopefully these entires will provide an understanding of the journey families face when dealing with these horrific diseases and of the important work the Hugs for Brady Foundation does.
