by Michael Wells Well, it’s Saturday afternoon and I am listening to my favorite internet radio station – Pandora. It’s really cool and I have my number 1 son Stephen to thank for turning me onto it. Speaking of my son Stephen; Sherrie, Brady and me wishing you a BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Love ya lots… Brady is napping and I just returned from my first experience giving platelets and it’s really no big deal. Same thing as giving blood just takes a little longer but basically it’s identical. So many people have asked what they can do to help (Brady) giving platelets is certainly one way. Brady has had so many platelet transfusions I can’t recall the total amount. And I assure you he will have many more before this cancer is defeated. The best part of donating platelets is the fact you can it every 4 weeks. Sherrie and her parents are taking a few moments together which now a days is a very rare event. My in-laws have been just incredible since the very beginning of this ordeal and yes, even Gary. I really don’t think we could have gotten through this without their untiring support and understanding. Thank you once again is a very limiting expression of my gratitude but it’s truly heart felt! Also, I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to sign our guestbook. It’s really a joy to hear from everyone; thank you one and all!!! I know how difficult it is for many people to write about such a tough situation but a simple “hell-o” works for us!!! The Baby Bear is stirring from his nap so until next time; hugs, prayers and good thoughts are powerful medicine… PS One more time: HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEPHEN!!!“8 Years Later—Still No Cure for Pediatric Cancer” is a series of posts revisiting the journal kept by Sherrie and Michael Wells during the cancer diagnosis and treatment of their son, Brady Michael. Hopefully these entires will provide an understanding of the journey families face when dealing with these horrific diseases and of the important work the Hugs for Brady Foundation does.
